Design Led Thinking
Discover how our in-house architect brings design-led thinking to every Into Place residence.
At Into Place, design is not a phase. It is the foundation of everything we do. Design led thinking means every decision begins with intent. From the earliest ideas through to construction, each element is guided by a clear architectural vision. The result is a residence that feels resolved, refined and inherently connected to the way it is lived in.
This is where strong outcomes begin. Not at the point of construction, but at the very first line.
Meet Nic
At the centre of this approach is our in house architect, Nic Procter. With a Bachelor of Architecture and Master of Architecture, Nic brings over 15 years of experience across Western Australia, the United Kingdom and Europe. His work spans bespoke residential homes through to large scale commercial projects, offering a depth of knowledge that informs every residence we design.
Nic’s approach blends creativity with practicality. Each project is shaped through careful spatial planning, refined detailing and an understanding of how architecture is experienced over time. Influenced by a broad range of architectural styles and international experience, his work reflects both clarity and depth. This expertise is not separate to the process. It is embedded within it.
The role of an in house architect
Having an in house architect changes the way a home is created. Rather than working across separate teams, design and construction are aligned from the beginning. This allows for a more considered and cohesive process, where ideas are explored with both creativity and practicality in mind.
Our in house architect works closely with you from the outset, taking the time to understand your lifestyle, your site and your priorities. These insights are translated into a design that feels personal, balanced and carefully resolved. This approach removes fragmentation and replaces it with clarity. Every decision has context. Every detail has purpose.
Early design thinking
The quality of a home is often determined long before it is built. Early design thinking allows us to respond to the opportunities and constraints of a site from the very beginning. Orientation, natural light, spatial relationships and overall proportion are resolved early, creating a strong architectural foundation.
The process moves forward with confidence, clarity and a shared understanding of the outcome. This is where design creates value. Not only in how a home looks, but in how it performs and feels over time.
Better outcomes by design
When design leads the process, the outcome is inherently stronger. Spaces feel intuitive and balanced. Materials are selected with intention. Each element works together rather than competing for attention. Because the design is guided by an architectural framework, the result is a residence that feels cohesive and complete. Not over designed, and not under resolved. It is this clarity that defines a well considered home. One that is experienced as a whole, rather than a series of separate decisions.
Efficiency through alignment
An integrated design and build approach brings a level of efficiency that is difficult to achieve through separated processes. With design and construction working together from the beginning, decisions are made with full visibility of both creative and practical outcomes. This reduces uncertainty, streamlines communication and ensures the project progresses with greater consistency.
It also allows for better control of budget and buildability. Design ideas are refined with a clear understanding of how they will be delivered, ensuring nothing is lost in translation.
The result is a process that feels structured, transparent and considered at every stage.
Quality, carried through
Quality is not something added at the end. It is something that is carried through every step of the journey. From initial concept through to final detailing, the same level of care and attention is maintained. Our intentionally limited project capacity ensures each residence receives a hands on and meticulous approach, allowing design integrity to be preserved from start to finish. This continuity is what allows an Into Place residence to feel effortless. Every element has been considered, refined and delivered with precision.
Architecture, made accessible
At Into Place, we believe good design should be more widely accessible. Through our integrated model, we are able to offer the level of innovation, detail and architectural thinking typically associated with bespoke design, in a way that feels clear and approachable. Each residence benefits from strong design principles, thoughtful spatial planning and refined detailing, without unnecessary complexity. It is about bringing architectural quality into everyday living.
A more considered way to build
Design led thinking is ultimately about intention. It is about ensuring every decision contributes to a better outcome. With an in house architect guiding the process, ideas are explored with depth, resolved with clarity and delivered with confidence. The result is a residence that feels calm, purposeful and enduring. Where design leads, quality follows and everything comes Into Place.
